The arrests took place in Castro Marim and Vilar Formoso, both last Friday.

The National Republican Guard (GNR) reported this Thursday that it detained a woman in Castro Marim and a man in Vilar Formoso for being in the country illegally. The detentions took place on Friday, November 8.

According to the statement sent to the press, the GNR explained that during an inspection operation in nightlife establishments, a 41-year-old woman was identified as being in the country illegally. After her detention, the woman was presented to the Judicial Court of Vila Real de Santo António. She was later sent to a Temporary Installation Center and subsequently handed over to Spanish authorities.

On the same day, during another inspection operation on international buses in the Vilar Formoso area, a 32-year-old man was identified without a valid visa for the Schengen area. The individual was handed over to Spanish police authorities due to his connection with Spain.

Still, during the operation in Vilar Formoso, a second woman, aged 32, was identified attempting to enter the country irregularly.
